The Margaret M. Generali Foundation has awarded six grants totaling $9,000 for the 2008-09 academic year. The recipients of these grants are:
Nancy Boyles Professional Development and Resources Kits:

Increasing Reading Skills for Special Needs Students:
Christine Mead, West Side Middle School.
When I Seek Employment (WISE):
Lisa Ieronimo, Maureen McCasland, Kathy McKeeman, Barnard School.
The Constitutional Convention at Washington School:
Fernando Silva, Maria Jimenez, Washington School.
Finding Flat Stanley: a Powerful Literacy Tool:
Leta Cybart, Blessed Sacrament School.
Integrating Technology into the Sixth Grade Language Arts Curriculum:
James Geary, Mary LaBarbera, St. Mary School.
In addition, the foundation will sponsor eight city classes, randing from kindergarten through fifth grade, to attend a performance of “Junie B. Jones” at the Palace Theater. This field trip is being held in memory of Amy DeLucis, former reading supervisor for the city of Waterbury
This year’s recipients will be honored at the foundation’s annual dinner in May.
